Eight people from the Clayton County Public Schools system have been nominated in various categories for the American Association of Adapted Sports Programs’ sixth annual ASPIRE Awards.
The Atlanta-based organization recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions supporting student-athletes with physical disabilities.
Kila-Ray Brown and Jaedin Lowe are nominees for Athlete of the Year, Edward Rhone is up for the High School Senior Athlete award and both Andrew Dotson and Laniya Jones were nominated for Most Improved Athlete. Sebastian Tillman is a nominee for Coach of the Year, while both Samuel Gonzalez and Erica Rogers are candidates for the Gail Hendrick Volunteerism Award.
The award-winners will be announced Oct. 27 at the ASPIRE Awards at Maggiano’s restaurant on Peachtree Road in Atlanta. The featured speaker is 2024 Paralympic archery gold medalist Matt Stutzman, and the emcee is actor, writer and TV personality Patrick Cusick.
Tickets to the event — $35 for AAASP members or $50 for non-members — include dinner and are available at adaptedsports.org/aaasp-aspire-awards.
