Clayton County High School Swim Finals

Clayton County High School Swim Finals was Wednesday, January 31, 2019, at the Jim Huie Aquatic Center. Clayton County’s high schools have been in constant competition against other Clayton & Henry County schools all season. Last night all of Clayton County high schools competed in the swim finals. Elite Scholars Academy stole the night with their three county championship titles. Jonesboro came in 2nd in the county and for their boys swim team. Mundy’s Mill girls rounded out in 2nd place as well for the county. Throughout the night many of the high schools had stand out swimmers that medaled.

Excerpts By Darius Goodman (Clayton News Daily) A recent swim meet has found three Clayton County swimmers punch their tickets to the 2019 State Swim and Dive Championships. Mundy’s Mill High senior Jayla Cistrunk is on her third straight year of qualifying for the state meet. This year, Cistrunk qualified in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle. Mount Zion High senior Aaryn Anderson also qualified in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle event. The final swimmer from Clayton County to make state was Elite Scholars senior Haleem Bashir. Bashir has qualified for each of the past four years and has qualified for the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke.
