Eddie White Academy Dominates the County with Dual Wins

Eddie White Academy dominates the County Championships with dual wins from both the girls and boys basketball programs. Eddie White basketball teams came into the tournament with a 14-0 season record without truly being challenged by any of the county teams until the tournament. Mundy’s Mill girls stepped up to try and knock the EWA Lady Wolves off their winning streak. The Lady wolves had a serious defensive game by keeping the Lady Razorbacks from scoring most of the first half. EWA’s fast break offense seemed almost unstoppable. EWA Lady Wolves Coach Kimleon Turner, was calm at the start of the game attributing their success to practicing non stop fundamentals. Mundy’s Mill Coach Antiny White tried to keep his team in it, although several of his key players suffered injuries throughout the game. Mundy’s Mill came up short in the county championship game losing 48-29.

Eddie White and Babb Middle School boys were battling the entire game keeping the score close throughout. Babb was up at the start of the second half 31-27. However, Babb’s defense could not stop the 3 point shooting abilities of two of EWA’s guards. The last 4 minutes of the game intensified as both teams were in it to win it. Then, one of Babb’s key post players fouled out leaving EWA with an opening to pass the ball backdoor for several easy lay up shots. Babb was not giving up, but time was not on their side when they decided to give EWA a run. Eddie White wolves finished the night with 48-45 win over Babb for the County Championships.

No matter who the crowd came to see for the championship games, all four teams did not disappoint. The girls and the boys games were exciting, but there could only be one winner. Congratulations, to Eddie White Academy on their undefeated Championship season! Congratulations, to Clayton County’s Runner-ups Mundy’s Mill Middle School and Babb Middle School.
