CLAYTON SWIMMING: Elite Scholars Academy wins weekly swim meet

Elite Scholars Academy topped all Clayton County schools with 388 points. In boys action, the team of Tarran Johnson, Haleem Bashir, Nigel McCarver and Abubah KarLamin Wright won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:05.28. McCarver won the 200-yard intermediate with a time of 2:53, while Bashir won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.41 and the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.90.

Johnson won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.72, and Noah Allen was the winner of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 8:21.55. Jakaris Brown finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke.

Finally, the team of Anthony Buggs, Adam Loppe, Micah Scott and Malik Polk won the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Johnson, Bashir, McCarver and Kious Dabrey won the 400-yard freestyle relay.

ESA’s girls were led by a first-place finish by Autumn Rose (1:39.25) in the 100-yard backstroke.

Jonesboro came in second with 340 total points. Jonathon Guardado won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 3:03.09. Adonis Johnson won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.09, while Curtis Bailey topped the field in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:08.70. Anthony Scott claimed the 500-yard freestyle crown with a time of 9:33.48. David Israel came in first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The team of Bailey, Johnson, Israel and Alex DeJesus won the 200-yard freestyle relay. The same team won the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Lady Cardinals were led by Alexandria Magona’s first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. The team of Magona, Destiny Burrus, Elena Bernabe and Reyienna Lopez placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay

Morrow placed third as a team with 206 points. The boys 200-yard medley relay team of Malik Durant, Jusitn Guerra, James Perry and Josiah Miranda posted a first-place time of 2:21.86. Durant wont the 200-yard intermediate, while Perry was first in the 100-yard butterfly. The Lady Mustangs were led by Laney Launder, who finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and breaststroke. D’Mayah Evans came in second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Lovejoy placed fourth overall as a team. Keno Bryant won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.49. He also came in second in the 50-yard freestyle. Briana Magras led the Lady Wildcats with a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.

Forest Park’s Joe Guerrero came in first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 3:09.42.
