Mount Zion High’s Tamera Tilley to play basketball at Central Georgia Tech By Luke Strickland

JONESBORO — Mount Zion High senior Tamera Tilley has signed a scholarship to continue her basketball career at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon.

Tilley led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring at 10 points per game last season and was named to an Honorable Mention in Region 4-AAAAAA. She will now move on to play basketball at Central Georgia Tech, where she worked out for the school and was offered shortly after.

Tilley spent the first part of her career at Forest Park High before finishing at Mount Zion. She said playing for two different coaches has prepared her for the college game.

“It’s a humbling experience to be recruited, period,” Tilley said. “But also as far as my dream of playing college basketball, it has been accomplished. It seemed as if I’ve been playing college basketball for a long time. I’ve had the three practices a day, strict dieting, you name it. Playing with two different high school coaches, one man, one woman and two different personalities was hard adjusting too, but I prospered through.”

Central Georgia Tech plays in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. The Titans went 12-19 last season.

“I would like to thank my high school coaches — coach (Tiesha) Wilson and I would like to thank my first high school coach coach (Stephen) Cole — and my personal trainers, coach Taylor, Jamal, Mr. Anthony, Mr. Johnson, coach Smith and coach Duffy.”
