Clayton Athletes Claim 3 State Championships on Day 1 of GHSA Track and Field Championships

Clayton County High School athletes started strong on day 1 of the 2017 GHSA State Track and Field Championships held Thursday, May 11, 2017. At the AAAAAA Championships in Carrollton, Ga.

Mount Zion High School Senior Imani Carmouche, a recent signee with The University South Florida won her second consecutive state title by winning the High Jump at a height of 5′ 8′, four inches better than her closest competitor.

Drew High School’s Shatara Johnson won the AAAAAA Long Jump Competition with a distance of 19′ 6.75′ nearly 5 inches more than her closest competitor.

Finally, Benjamin Okafor of Elite Scholars Academy won the Triple Jump at the Class A Championships being held in Albany, Ga. by jumping 46′ 10″ over a foot greater than his closest competitor.
