Jonesboro HS Senior M.J. Walker was chosen as the AAAAAA State Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Walker adds to a plethora of awards earned over his 4 years at Jonesboro HS. Walker surpassed NBA player and Jonesboro HS Alum Toney Douglas during the season as the All-Time leading scorer at Jonesboro HS and in Clayton County. Walker was a member of the U18 Team USA who won gold this past summer in Chile, was selected as a McDonald’s All-American, where he was chosen as the Sportsmanship winner among the players participating and was a part of 2 state championship teams under the direction of Coach Dan Maehlman at Jonesboro HS.
