Jonesboro HS Senior M. J. Walker Honored as a 2017 McDonald’s All-American

On Thursday, February 16, 2017 in a ceremony at Jonesboro High School, Senior standout student-athlete M.J. Walker received an honor very few have received. Walker was recognized by McDonald’s and American Family Insurance as a McDonald’s All-American. As an honoree, Walker will participate in the McDonald’s All-American Game to be held on March 29 in Chicago. Walker is now a part of a revered group of McDonald’s honorees over the years. Past honorees include NBA legends such as Michael Jordan, Lebron James and Kyree Irving

On Thursday, Walker thanked his parents, his teammates, his JHS family and all of his coaches, He was most appreciative of all of the support and challenges he had received from Jonesboro HS head basketball Coach Dan Maehlman. Walker is a well deserving All-American, he is the all-time leading scorer in Clayton County history with 2400 plus points, breaking the previous.record held by former Jonesboro HS alum and NBA player Toney Douglas. The Cardinals have succeeded in winning 2 state championships and finishing as state runners-up in Walker’s 3 years at JHS. The Cardinals begin their quest for the 2017 State Title on Saturday at JHS when they take on Richmond Hill HS at 7:30 PM
