Drew HS Alum Antonio Garcia Selected to Participate in Senior Bowl By Adam Prendergast
Troy offensive lineman Antonio Garcia will participate in the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, the Senior Bowl announced Monday afternoon.
Garcia, a native of Atlanta, is the leader of the Troy offensive line that leads the country with just seven sacks allowed this season. The Trojans are allowing a sack just once every 64.4 pass attempts and Garcia has not allowed a sack all season in nearly 900 snaps. A preseason All-Sun Belt First Team selection, Garcia has been credited with over 65 knockdown blocks this season.
Additionally, the Troy offensive line has paved the way for Jordan Chunn to become the ninth 1,000-yard rusher in school history. Chunn leads the Sun Belt with 13 rushing touchdowns and quarterback Brandon Silvers leads the league with 22 touchdown passes behind the Garcia-led offensive line.
Garcia becomes the first Troy player since James Brown in 2012 to receive an invitation to the Senior Bowl.
Senior Bowl practices will begin on Jan. 23. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 in Ladd-Peebles Stadium. ESPN2 and NFL Network will broadcast live from the practices and NFL Network will carry the game.
