North edges South 12-8 to win 2016 CCPS Middle School All-Star Football Game, EWA’s Belton Named Coach of the Year

The North All-Star squad coached by Rex Mill’s Eric Henderson outlasted the South All-Star’s Led by White Academy’s Adrian Belton on Tuesday. November 1 at Tara Stadium. The North team led 6-0 at halftime and subsequently took a 12-0 lead when North Clayton Middle School’s De’Markis Mosely returned the 2nd half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. The South team later answered with a touchdown of their own by Kendrick running back Derrick Burgess, III who ran 40 yards for a score. A subsequent 2 point conversion by White Academy running back Christian Lett narrowed the score to 12-8. The clock ultimately ran out on the South Team as the North defense made a critical stop to seal the victory.

North Clayton Middle School’s De’Markis Mosely was named MVP for the North Team and Kendrick Middle School’s Derrick Burgess, III was named MVP for the South.Team.

White Academy Head Coach Adrian Belton was named the 2016 CCPS Middle school Football Coach of the year. His EWA Wolves finished 9-0 and won the 2016 CCPS Championship, the first in school history.
