Our 2019 Clayton County Wrestling Champion Bulldogs can now add 2020 Regional Team Champions to the row of banners hanging from the rafters! The Mighty Bulldogs have now won 4 Regional titles in 4 years. 2 Team 2 Traditional. With one to go!

After a bye in Round 1, Mt. Zion defeated Mundy’s Mill in Round 2, then faced old foe Stevenson HS in the finals. Mt. Zion managed 9 Victories out of 13 matches from; Junior Isaac Solomon, Senior Isaiah Holland,  Senior Captain Joshua Ellis, Junior Jeremiah Miller, Junior D’Micheal Williams, Senior Captain Salvador Ayala, Sophomore Christopher Padilla, Senior Leader Deshawn Jennings, and Senior Marquavious Green. Senior Nathan Callaghan was handed a tough draw facing a returning state qualifier and fell after a hard-fought battle. Along with our 3 varsity freshman Amado Diallo, Jordan Moore and Gerald Jennings who all deserve recognition for their battle to end efforts.
The 2019-2020 Bulldog Wrestling team has a Dual meet record of 25-10 this season. We have placed in the top ten of each tournament competed in this season. In 4 years our Bulldogs have earned, 4 x Clayton County Dual Champions, 4 x Clayton County Traditional Champions, 2 x Area runner-up in team duals, 2 x Area Champion in team duals,2x Traditional Area runner-up, 1x time area champion in Traditionals,  3 x State qualifier in 4 years. This season we had 6 Individual County Champions in 113 lbs Amado Diallo, 132lbs Joshua Ellis, 138lbs Jeremiah Miller, 152lbs Salvador Ayala, 160lbs Darrell Shields, 285lbs Marquavious Green. With 7 seniors on the Varsity squad, we are the most experienced team in 8 years.
Mt. Zion is now seeded 11th in the 16 team State Duals 6A competition and bracketed to face Brunswick HS in the first round.  Weigh-Ins will begin at Noon this Thursday at the Macon Colosseum and follow through till Saturday.
This Thursday, January 15th the Bulldogs with represent the Area 4/6A Region as the Area Champions and participate in the State Duals Competition, facing Brunswick HS in the First Round.
