Jonesboro Senior M.J. Walker Named AJC AAAAAA State Player of the Year

Jonesboro HS Senior M.J. Walker was chosen as the AAAAAA State Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Walker adds to a plethora of awards earned over his 4 years at Jonesboro HS. Walker surpassed NBA player and Jonesboro HS Alum Toney Douglas during the season as the All-Time leading scorer at Jonesboro HS and in Clayton County. Walker was a member of the U18 Team USA who won gold this past summer in Chile, was selected as a McDonald’s All-American, where he was chosen as the Sportsmanship winner among the players participating and was a part of 2 state championship teams under the direction of Coach Dan Maehlman at Jonesboro HS.

Walker has yet to make his college decision, but will most definitely be playing at the collegiate level next year. On top of his athletic accomplishments, Walker was also selected as a Scholar-Athlete for JHS and honored along with 49 of his peers across Clayton County. Walker is the true definition of a Student-Athlete.
